"Athena the Owl" Perches in the Teen Zone

Athena's Biography:

Athena is the big sister to Ardy the Reach Owl, the Children?s Departmental mascot. She just returned from Greece where she was a transfer student learning about the Greek culture and history. While on her travels, she learned about the Greek goddess Athena, her namesake. According to mythology, Athena was the armed goddess of literature, reason, wisdom and the arts. As the legend goes, the goddess favored the owl who in many cultures also symbolized wisdom. Athena the Owl, having learned about her Greek influences, recently arrived back in Bentonville, Arkansas to represent the teens of the community.

Athena's Interests:

Athena is an avid reader of the young adult collection where she enjoys a vast array of novels. She also likes learning about mythology, careers, poetry and other subjects in the non-fiction section. Athena, like her namesake, loves the arts -- especially music.  With her Bentonville Public Library card, she downloads free music each week on Freegal. Look closely at the Athena logo to see her dancing happily while listening to her favorite tunes.
